September 4, 2016

Dear Members,
As I write this, the rain from Tropical Storm Hermine has stopped falling.  While the storm did not bring the rainfall amounts we were hoping for (.4 inches) it did bring much needed  cooler temperatures for the next few days.
As all game plans change and evolve during the course of the first or second quarter (sorry, it is football season) ours have as well.  Jimmy and I have spoken numerous times over the past twenty–four hours and we have made a decision to perform the previously delayed aerification of our greens on Tuesday and Wednesday of the coming week.
The cooler temperatures, combined with the rain, have afforded us the opportunity to complete this much needed agricultural practice and we plan to take advantage of it.  With much higher temperatures predicted later in the week, we feel this represents our best opportunity to get it done.  The golf course will be closed on Tuesday September 6th (which is our normal practice for a holiday weekend).  The course will also be closed on Wednesday, September 7th, while our maintenance crew completes the procedure.   The Club will be open as normal on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, with the higher temps predicted for later in the week, it will be necessary to continue with the tee time restrictions going forward:
Thursday:  Tee times will be available from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.  Tees will reopen at 1:00 pm.
Friday: Tee times will be available from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Tees will reopen at 2:00 pm.
We will continue to monitor the weather conditions throughout the week to determine our weekend play schedule.  In the event tee time restrictions continue to be necessary, we will communicate the schedule as soon as possible.
Even though we have managed through this survival mode situation so far it is important to remember that we must solve our water resource situation.  As previously stated, the Board of Governors and I are working diligently to solve it.  We will have more detailed solution information coming out to you in the very near future.
On a final note:  Labor Day may be the unofficial end of summer, but there are many upcoming events and activities scheduled here at the Club.   They include: Winery and brewery tours, the Men’s Member/Guest Golf Tournament, Couples Golf, Fall Festival dinner, Halloween Hayrides, Breakfast and Dinner with Santa, and Shopapalooza – just to name a few!.  Regardless of whether you’re a Golf, Tennis or Social member, I hope you are planning to spend your fall and holiday season with fellow members and the staff here at Jefferson Lakeside Country Club!  A tradition of excellence for over 100 years!
